Club
Meeting Fresh from the hospital, Club President Roy Scott hobbled out to the field to conduct the meeting. Roy discussed the up-coming work day scheduled for April 15th. The plan is to paint the pavillion, do some weed & feed, roll the field, mount the sound system donated by Jerry Rudish (Thanks Jerry!) and install some new pit stations if enough members turn out for the work day. Keep in mind that the more members who show up, the faster we can get the work done. Our first annual Fun Fly is offically listed in this month's edition of Model Aviation and things are progressing. A flyer is being put together to be handed out in the local area as soon as time gets a bit closer. Obie King has volunteered to handle the concessions and will be looking for help to get all the food in order. He hopes to recruit a few of the wives to prepare some goodies to sell to the hungry public along with the planned burgers, dogs, chips and ice cold pop. Bob Costello is contacting some of the major hobby distributors and manufactures like Futaba, Hitec and Great Planes to see if they might be willing to donate some of their products to the club that can be used for possible give-aways and raffles. Hopefully Bob is a good sweet-talker and will be able to secure us some additional items to raffle. The club expects to have something like a transmitter or a new engine to raffle, even if it has to be purchased by the club for this purpose. We also plan to have the customary 50/50 drawing as well. The Fun-Fly, along with the yard sale, looks to be the big money-making events of the year. With this in mind, it is in the best interest of the members, and the club itself, to do everything possible to insure the success of these projects. If the club is able to generate the necessary operating funds through these outside events, the members won't be asked to make up for any deficit that may occur. A few hours of your time to help out with these events can go along way to help keeping the annual dues as low as possible. Also, Jerry Rudish has been hard at work trying to get the ordered ball caps in that will have the new club logo. There have been some unexpected delays, but as soon as they come in, the hats will be available for sale at the unbelievably low, low price of only $11.00 each. If you'd like to pre-order a new hat, let Jerry know. You can also see Jerry to order shirts and jackets that will also sport the new club logo.
What's New Members are encouraged to check the Events page as well as the Mowing Schedule for changes as they happen. There have been some minor changes and updates to the Events page. The Mowing Schedule has had some significant changes made to it as well. Because the Mowing Schedule was originally put together based on last years' roster and not all the members renewed, some changes were necessary. Members should check the website regularly for any changes or updates that may happen during the month.
A Couple of Reminders Since we are now getting into the mowing season again, members are reminded that when it's your time to mow, either take enough gasoline with you to do the mowing or make sure that you replace whatever gasoline you use so that those who follow after you don't have to pay for what you use. The new mowing schedule changes for the 2006 flying season are posted to the Mowing Schedule page of our website. You can also review the 2006 AMA Safety Rules here. Finally, DON'T FORGET our first work day scheduled for April 15th at the field and the starting time will be 9:00 a.m. as usual.
