DON'T FORGET . . . The club had to reschedule the November dinner meeting. It is now set for Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 3:30pm. It will still be held at the Runway Restaurant and everyone is invited out to have a nice dinner, maybe watch some airport traffic and just have a good time in general. Upon arrival, please let the Restaurant people know that you are with the club as they will have us grouped together.
A New Address For The Club's Website It has been noted that the club's website address (domain name) seems a bit difficult for many members to remember. That has changed - and (fingers crossed) for the better. By the time this edition of the Windsock is posted to the club's website, we will have a shorter - and easier to remember - website address. Efforts are being made to change the website address to simply "TheBAMS.org" and to have it up and running before the first of December. Once the new domain has been registered and all the necessary files posted up, when you go to the club's current web address, you will be informed of the new address with a link to get there. Keep in mind that this new address is simply to make the address easier to remember and easier to type in. Keep checking the website to see when this new change will take place. And don't forget to bookmark the new address once it's up and running.
A New Feature On The Website There has been some discussion about adding a disucssion forum to the club's website. No one was sure how many members would use it, was it worth the expense of being able to add it to the website, etc.. So, as an experiment to determine if members will in fact accept and utilize a discussion forum, one has been added to the club's website (at no cost to the club, of course) and everyone is encouraged to at least take a look at it and see what you think about the idea. There is a new link on the home page of the website (Our Forums) to get to the forums. Basically this forum is opened to anyone who wishes to participate or to just read. In order to be able to "POST" to the forums, you will need to register as a member. Nothing spectacular. Once you receive a confirmation email, you will have full run of the forums. Again, this is just an experiment over the winter to see if it can and/or will be utilized as a means for all the BAMS members to stay in touch with what is happening without having to wait until a new Windsock get published. If members do not utilize this new feature or if the majority feel that it is a waste of time, the experiment will be ended and the forum removed from the website. NOTE: Due to the lack of participation, effective December 12th, this feature has been closed and removed from the club's website.
A few minutes later, a phone rang. The Japanese fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he was finished he explained, "That was my mobile phone. I have a microchip in my hand." The Texan felt decidedly low tech, but not to be outdone he decided he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped out of the sauna and went to the bathroom. He returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his behind. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him. The Texan finally said---- "Well, will you look at that, I'm getting a fax."

Don't Forget The Dinner! It's Been Rescheduled. The annual Dinner at the Runway Restaurant that was scheduled for November 5th. beginning at 3:30 p.m. has been rescheduled for the first Saturday in December, which is December 3, 2005 at 3:30pm. This is a social event where members can get together at the Airport, have dinner with the spouse (everybody pays their own way), watch the air traffic and just have a good time together. There will be a section reserved for the club, so when you come in, just tell them you're with the flying club. This will be a great opportunity for all of the new members to get to know the old members and the old members to meet the new ones. Come On Out & Have A Good Time!

Join Us For New Year's Day There are some real hardcore flyers who, each and every year, bring the New Year in by braving the cold and the snow to have a good time flying. For those of you who are so inclined, be sure to plan on meeting up with us at the field on New Year's Day 2006 at about 1:00 p.m. for some frosty fun. Be sure to wear your long underwear, gloves and ski's (assuming that there will be snow) on our plane. There is even a rumor that we might have hot chocolate and coffee this year.
BAMS MEETINGS and the 2006 schedule of events will be sent out after the winter meeting. Notification of the winter meeting will be sent in time for all to attend.
