For those of you who did not make it out to the field for the annual New Year's Day flying, you missed a pretty nice day for flying. While it was a tad bit on the cool side, the winds were light and we even had a little bit of sunshine. All in all, there were about a dozen or so of us who braved the first day of 2006. Those who were lucky enough to get there early enjoyed some home-made chilli beans and cornbread for lunch. Most everyone brought a plane and we all got to enjoy each other's company and some nice winter flying. If you missed it, you missed out an an excellent January day that was almost perfect flying weather. Pictures of the day's activities can be seen here.
DON'T FORGET . . . The club's website address has changed. The new address is www.thebams.org and it is up and running. Please bookmark the new address as the old has been deactivated. Finally, don't forget that the new POINTS system goes into effect this year. You can see the September 2005 Windsock for more details.
What's New There will be a meeting of the club's Board of Directors this month at a time to be be determined. The club's winter general membership meeting is scheduled for February 26, 2006 at 2:30pm at Tom Mekis' home. Click HERE for current details and directions. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting. The main topic of discussion will be the First Annual Fly-In and we will be needing all the help we can get to make this Fly-In a success. So, if you're interested in helping out with this event, be sure to be at the meeting and/or let one of the Board Members know so they can put you to work. For those of you who haven't noticed, the Discussion Forum area of the website has been disabled and removed. This was the result of a lack of participation by the membership. While the idea first appeared to be a good idea, the club in general did not seem to respond favorably to it so it was removed. Don't forget the MARS Annual Swap Meeting. It is scheduled for January 15, 2006 at the Mars VFW Hall beginning at 8am.
It's That Time Again It is time for your annual Club Dues Renewal. Dues for 2006 can be sent to Thomas Fisher, 612 Center Drive, Chicora, PA 16025. Checks should be made out to Butler Aircraft Modelers. Open Family membership is $40.00 and were due in by December 31, 2005.
