| ELECTION OF
NEW OFFICERS At the monthly club meeting that was held on Sunday, October 2, 2005, some new officers were elected for the up-coming year. Bob Costello was elected as our new Vice-President. Tom Fisher was elected Secretary/Treasurer and Vance Van Patten was elected Board Member. While Bob Costello and Tom Fisher ran unopposed, it was a very heated race for the Board Member office between incumbent Bob (Tank) Zabicki and new-comer, Vance Van Patten. The battle for Board Member was a bloody one with no-holes-barred. Both candidates came out with guns a blazing and the election was extremely tight - right down to the wire. Luckily neither candidate had to resort to waging a mud-slinging campaign and there was no sign of voter fraud or ballot tampering. If you missed this meeting, and especially this election, you really missed something. Obie King, out-going Vice-President, Bob Masterson, out-going Secretary/Treasurer, and Bob (Tank) Zabicki, out-going Director, should be recognized for their dedication and contributions to the club during their respective terms in office. When you see these three at the field, give them a pat on the back and let them know you appreciate their efforts. Thank you gentlemen. Your efforts were and still are appreciated.
THE CLUB ROSTER GROWS The BAMS have grown during the 2005-year. That's right! The club welcomed in a number of new members so far this year. As of the end of September has a total membership of 72. The new members this year are: |

| Almost all of these new pilots have taken and
passed the required flying test and have received their wings. So, if you've been
wondering why you have been seeing so many new faces this year, now you know.
A FLY-IN PLANNED FOR 2006 The club has decided to host it's First Annual Fly-In some time next year. A date has not yet been set, but the Board of Directors expects to vote on a date during its next couple of meetings. Hosting a Fly-In can greatly impact the club. In order for it to be a success, it will require a lot of planning and a lot of work. Once a date has been set and things start happening, members will be called upon to contribute their time and energy to insure the success of the Fly-In. If we can pull this first one off any where near as well as the Open House held earlier this year, the Fly-In could very well become an annual event. And don't forget the money that can be raised to help keep our club dues down.

| IT'S GETING TO BE THAT TIME AGAIN It is time for your annual Club Dues Renewal. Dues for 2006 can be sent to Thomas Fisher, 612 Center Drive, Chicora, PA 16025. Checks should be made out to Butler Aircraft Modelers. Open Family membership is $40.00
JUST A REMINDER The club is instituting a point system (click here to see in .pdf format) that will go into effect on January 1, 2006. As with any type of group like ours where we depend on volunteers to get work done, there is a small core group of members that always seem to end up doing all the work so that everyone benefits. The intent of this new point system is to encourage all members to take a more active role in whatever needs to be done and definitely not to run members off. The Board of Directors understand that many of us have other commitments, like our jobs, or are physically unable to do a lot of manual labor that prevents active participation on the Saturday work days. If you are one of these, you can still accumulate your 5 points per year by attending the monthly club meetings and maybe helping out on training nights a couple of times. Attending the each of the monthly meetings will get you 4 points and two nights helping out with training gets you 2 more points. Accumulating the necessary 5 points is so easy and your contributions will benefit the club. Also, the Board of Directors have decided that, in order to help reduce some of the club's operating expenses, the monthly Windsock will no longer be mailed out to every member. It has been decided that, since the club's website is up and running nicely, the Windsock will be posted to the website each month. So, with this in mind, the club needs to know who does not have internet access before the end of the year. If you do not have internet access, then you will continue to receive a printed newsletter. If you do have access, you will be able to view not only the current issue of the Windsock, but also past issues.
BAMS MEETINGS and the 2006 schedule will be sent out after the winter meeting. Notification of the winter meeting will be sent in time for all to attend.
If you have any ideas that would improve your clubs' newsletter, we would love to hear them. If you have an article or something of interest to share with the club, you can feel free to talk to one of the club officers or email them to the Windsock Editor. This is your newsletter so we welcome any input (good or bad) along with ideas and suggestions.
