Breakfast
& Club Meeting Jerry Rudish has been in contact with the gals that are suppose to be supplying the club with hats, shirts and jackets. It appears that there have been some problems in getting these ladies to get our order together and shipped to us. Jerry and Roy are working on the problem and hope to have it resolved shortly. Club President Roy Scott has asked that all new students wishing to recieve flight training to contact the trainers to schedule training time on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings. This is due to the fact that we have so few students at this time. As the number of students increases, then the trainers will be at the field every training night.
June 4th Meeting Discussed at the meeting were various topics including the Fun-Fly. Since the club has not heard back from any of the big manufacturers (Hitec, Futaba, etc.) to see if items can be secured for the raffles, having an additioanl means of raising funds was in doubt. However, thanks to the generousity of Carmen Van Patten, owner and President of Elite Home Care Services, Inc., the club will have a big ticket item to raffle at the Fly-In. Elite Home Care Services, Inc. is donating a complete airplane setup. This will include a trainer airplane, an engine, a 4-channel transmitter and servos as well as a beginner field box setup. This complete package has a MSRP of over $600. Also being genersouly donated to the club will be an electric glider by club Vice-President, Bob Costello. This glider will raffled off at the up-coming glider event scheduled for August 26th. with more details made available as the time draws near. Also during this meeting it was announced that the club raised over $1,000 at the yard sale this year. The club also raised an additional $100 or more from the Stryker raffle that was held on Memorial Day. Unfortunately, a non-club member won the Stryker raffle and no one seems to remember the name of the winner. If anyone has the name of the new Stryker owner, please let us know so that we can publish his name.
Field Maintenance
What's New New pilot training has begun. Bob Costello, Ron Hemphill, Roy Scott and Jerry Rudish are ready to help any and all new pilots learn to fly and earn their wings. Our trainers do ask that, due to the current high cost of gasoline, if you trainees commit to be at the field on training nights, please be there or call your trainer with enough time for him to schedule someone else or to make other plans. . Plans for the upcoming First Annual fun Fly set for June 24th are coming together. We still need volunteers for different assignments. Flyers are currently being distributed and arrangements are being made to have this event promoted in both the Butler Eagle and a local radio station. The club is expecting a good response from the general public so if you can help your club out, please contact one of the club officers and let them know you are available.
A Couple of Reminders If you happen to see Ron or Judy Hemphill at the field or one of the social events, be sure to thank them for once again allowing the club to hold its annual yard sale at their home. Without them allowing us to invade their home, we would not have the opportunity to raise the funds that we have been over the past few years. Don't forget that we are having our First Annual Fun-Fly on June 24th at the field. We still need some volunteers if we want to make this another sucessful money-making event. If you can help out, even for a short period of time, the club would appreciate your help. Also, our next regularly scheduled club meeting will be on July 9th. The meeting will begin at 2:30 pm with a picnic scheduled to begin at about 4:00 pm. Everyone bring a side dish and come out to enjoy the fun.
